Heather completed her training In Boston, USA, and afterwards continued to work in community health care with children aged 4 to 18 and their families, assessing and treating a wide range of difficulties. She has worked with adolescent boys in juvenile detention facilities and has extensive experience working with young adults presenting with difficulties that include anxiety, depression, sexuality, body image and identity issues, self-worth, substance misuse and self-harm. She works with parents to identify problem areas and find constructive ways of supporting their children, and the family system as a whole. Heather also worked with adolescents as well as adults battling addiction, along with the often associated problems of anxiety, depression, and trauma.

In New York, USA, Heather directed student support centre at Columbia University Medical School providing psychological assessment and treatment for students who were seeking support for a wide range of issues common to the university environment. The centre also promoted health education, helped shape policy development, and provided advice, guidance and supervision for deans and student peer group leaders. She has extensive knowledge and experience working with the potential difficulties of university students including performance anxiety, high demands in a competitive environment, loneliness, anxiety, depression, difficulties with changing relationships, academic stress and being away from their systems of support.

In Lausanne, Switzerland, Heather continued to work with adolescents, coaching rowing and providing sports performance psychology to aspiring athletes. Her experience training and competing for the United States National Team in rowing informed this work and allowed her insight into the mental training techniques that can assist one in achieving their goals and reaching their highest potential, whether in sport, career, relationships, academics or other areas of life.

She has taught these mental training techniques in lectures to medical school students and athletes alike, and to individuals looking for this type of support. Heather comes with a great depth of knowledge and experience both nationally and internationally. Her warm and empathic approach, in addition to her ability to tailor the therapeutic process and interventions to the individual and their needs, has helped many individuals overcome personal difficulties. She has a keen interest in neuroscience and research and uses evidence-based approaches and interventions in her assessment and treatment. She is passionate about her work and the people she is working with to overcome perceived obstacles, and return to living a fulfilling and peaceful life.
